Thomas Carl Brothers passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 10, 2024.  He is now at peace with his wife, Sandi Brothers, who preceded him in death in November 2023.  Tommy was born on February 16, 1947, one of 12 children born to the late Bernard and Nell Humes Brothers.  He was a proud US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War and a retired employee of Texas Insteumenrs, Tommy’s favorite activities were fishing for crappie and watching UK basketball.  He leaves behind his children who will greatly miss him, Shane Brothers, wife Debbie, and daughter Carla Hampton, husband Nathan, as well as three grandsons whom he dearly loved, Tristan Brothers, Robert Colin Hampton, and Aiden Brothers.  Tommy also leaves wonderful memories with his close and lifelong friend Bobby Hampton, a very special niece Mary Margaret Disney, who had been his loving care-giver, two brothers, Bob Brothers and Dale Brothers, wife Eileen, three sisters-in-law, Lorin Waller, Marla Polen, and Kay Disponette, who loved Tommy and will miss him, and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 6 sisters and 3 brothers.  Anyone who was lucky enough to have known and loved Tommy knew he was a huge Kentucky Wildcat fan, and that you didn’t talk to him while there was a game on.  His mother-in-law always told him he was a young Sam Elliott, but Marla thought he was a young version of Willie Nelson, but without Willie’s money.  Tommy lived a very simple life and never asked for anything from anyone, but he was so appreciative of anything that was done for him.  He loved big family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas.  He loved food!  He was a very laid-back guy and would go out of his way to help when he could.  He was a one-of-a-kind guy!  He never changed—Tommy was always Tommy, wherever you saw him.  Each and every one of us have our memories and stories of Tommy. And oh, what a tale could be told, but we won’t!  Tommy was ours, dearly loved by each of us.  He will be missed by all of us, but if you knew him, you will never forget him.  Rest in peace, you ol’ hippie!

A Remembrance Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 PM Tuesday, November 19, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Brother Bill Bales officiating .  Tommy's family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 AM that day until service time.  Tommy will be laid to rest with his wife Sandi at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Military Honors. This obituary was lovingly submitted by Tommy’s family.  All arrangements are under the care of Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, and we express our deepest sympathy to the Brothers family and friends.
