Nicholasville --Tomie Kiger, of Elkhart, Indiana passed away on November 4, 2011 at Greenleaf Health Campus, Elkhart, IN.

She was born October 8, 1929 in Nicholasville, KY to Rollie and Lucy (Thompson) McCarty. She married Thomas Kiger, June 22, 1958.

He preceded her in death April 22, 1999.

She is survived by her daughter, Alica (Mike) Castor of Elkhart; two nieces, Diane (Eddie) Gardner and Patricia (Nicky) Durham both of Hodgenville, KY; cousin Misty (Buddy) Pine of Nicholasville, KY; brother-in-law George (Joan) Kiger of Graham, TX; step-grandson Trent (Michelle) Castor, their children Ashtyn and Chandler; and cousins in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Hulett of Nicholasville, and Virginia Hager of Hodgenville, KY.

Tomie graduated from Nicholasville High School where she had many close friends. She has kept in contact with many of them throughout her life. She worked for many years at the VA Hospital in Lexington. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband. Recently, she was able to take a trip to Kentucky for a family reunion and to visit with cousins she hadn’t seen in many years.

Services will be held Wednesday November 9th 11:00 AM at Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Johns officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday November 8th. Online condolences and a guestbook may be signed at www.hagerandcundifffunerals.com.
