Tommye Jo Owens Bell, 65, loving sister of Janice Sharp, Delmar “Jo” Owens, Sarah Sizemore, and Theron Owens, left her earthly home after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 26, 2019.  She was born in Lexington on March 27, 1954, to the late Elwood Harrison and Meredith M. Brumfield Owens and lived most of her life in Central Kentucky.  She was a retired employee of the ASCS, now the Farm Service Agency, where she worked in Jessamine County until its closing, moving to the Richmond office until retirement and was well acquainted with the farmers of our community. She loved gardening and traveling.  She had a passion for going to the beach and recently made a trip there with her family, which was a happy and joyful time during her illness.  She loved animals especially her cat Lola and dog River Bell and her late dog Zoe. She will be fondly remembered by brothers-in-law Norman, husband of Janice, Chett, husband of Sarah, and sisters-in-law Judy Lynn, wife of Joe, and Edna, wife of Theron, as well as many nieces and nephews who were more like her children, and other extended family members.  Tommye was preceded in death in 1993 by her son David Vinson Bell and a brother Elwood Harrison “Bugsy” Owens, Jr.  A Remembrance Memorial will be held at 6:30 PM on Monday July 1 at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home.  The family will greet friends Monday starting at 5:00 PM until service time.

They have suggested donations be made in her memory to the Sanders Heirs, ℅ Mark Brumfield, 115 Hillcrest, Nicholasville, KY 40356 or to Paws 4 The Cause, 201 Newtown Pike, Lexington, KY 40508. “ If ever there comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever”.  Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to be chosen by Tommye’s family for cremation.
