Vernon M. Land, 69, of Shun Pike entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 19, at Crestview Center in Shelbyville. He was a native of Jessamine County born March 28, 1945, to the late George and Mary Land. Vernon was the owner of Land Repair Service in Lexington for many years where he was a mechanic. He loved to work on cars and participated in Drag Racing at the Drag Strip in Jessamine County, he was a member of the Central Kentucky 10-4 Radio Club as well as their bowling league. He leaves his memories with his children Kathy Feltner, husband Matthew, Carolyn Halcomb, husband Jerry, and Emmett Land, wife Kaya, his 13 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Jr. Land, grandson Timothy Land, sisters Lula Mae McCollum, Viola Sparks, and brother Dale Robertson. A Service of Remembrance will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 23, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Gene Gray, Jerry Halcomb, Jr., Jerry Halcomb, Sr., Chris Halcomb, Eric Halcomb, and Robert Smith. His family will greet friends from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, May 22, at the funeral home. Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to serve the Land family.
