William Howard Duncan

November 2, 1925 — July 13, 2018

William “ Bill” Howard Duncan, 92,  being the youngest one of 7 children, was born Nov. 2, 1925, in Buena Vista, Ky to the late Jesse L. and Mary B. Preston Duncan. He then moved with his family to Shun Pike and then Vince Road before moving to Mercer County in 1943.  He entered the Army in 1945, and was discharged in 1947, returning to Kentucky, where he married and began his family, having children Steven Wayne Duncan, wife Martha, Bradley Lee Duncan, wife Janet, Gina Sue Duncan, and Lisa Lynn Fleming, husband Theodore. In addition to his children, Bill has 4 grandchildren: Scott, Christopher, Jessica, and Montana, as well as 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.  Bill loved to play cards and his family fondly remembers one game in particular called Hand & Foot and the laughter it created as they played.  After his retirement Bill began to square dance and enjoyed this activity so much, along with the people he met.  A Remembrance Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 19, with Rev. Craig Tackett officiating who is pastor of the Nicholasville Baptist Church of which Bill was a member.  He will be laid to rest following the service in Lancaster Cemetery with full Military Honors.  The family will greet friends starting at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home.  “What the heart has once known it shall never forget”.  Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home is honored to serve Bill’s family.
