William Edgar “Bill” Reed, 61, loving husband to Elizabeth “Liz” Wallen Reed for 38 years went home to be with his heavenly Lord on Sunday May 26, 2019. A native of Lexington, KY he was born Oct. 2, 1957, to the late Edgar and Evelyn Garey Reed. Bill was one of 3 children and leaves his childhood memories with his sisters Carol Kirkland, husband Ronnie and Joan Tackett, husband Randal. Bill was a former employee of Rainbow Bakery, Paul Miller Ford and for many years L.K.Q. Keystone of Lexington. He started his Christian walk as a young man at Southside Baptist Church on Burly Ave. where he was very active in the youth group. He met the love of his life at Southside in 1977 and he and Liz were married Sept. 7, 1980. He was most recently very active member of the Lexington United Baptist Church. Bill was a member of Southern Nights Car Club for many years. His passion was old cars and trucks and enjoyed truck and tractor pulls as well as Drag Races. He even created his own miniature race track in his home. He also enjoyed going to Sam’s Club with his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Peggy and Tony Rowe. He spent lots of time watching the Hallmark Channel, UK Women’s Softball, UK Basket Ball, Solitaire, and playing legos with his grandsons. In addition to his wife, and sisters he will be fondly remembered by sons Will Reed, wife Gina, Cory Reed, wife Teresa, granddaughters Kaleigh, Autumn and Nevaeh, grandsons Jayden, Kyle and Cody and a host of nieces and nephews in addition to many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Russell and Nova Wallen. A Remembrance Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 31, at the Lexington United Baptist Church, 9477 Rockwell Rd., Lexington, KY. Entombment will follow the Service at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Will and Cory Reed, Ray Shockley, Jason Rowe, Josh Rowe, Ronald Kirkland, Randy Tackett and Todd Waits. Honorary bearers will be Jacob and Joshua Rowe, Jayden Reed, Scott and Todd Wallen. The family will greet friends at the church on Thursday, May 30, beginning at 4:00 PM and ending at 7:00 PM with a small service following. “Grief is the last act of love we have to give to those we love. Where there is deep grief, there was great love”.
