Willie Euguenia Rogers Veal

Nicholasville: Willie Eugenia Rogers Veal, 89, of Linden Lane, wife of Harlan H. Veal, Sr., passed away Wed., June 18, at her home. A native of Paint Lick, Ky., born July 23, 1918, to the late Will and Jennie Todd Rogers. She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky Teachers College of Richmond, and afterwards taught several years in Garrard and Jessamine Counties. Willie’s passion in life was her love of little children and she taught many first graders to read. In the early 1960’s she was instrumental in beginning Veal & Veal Realtors in Nicholasville. Her focus was helping young married couples find financing for their first homes. She was a long time member of Nicholasville Christian Church and was active in The Prayer Group and the Morning Circle. Her greates joy in life was her family and in doing for others. In addition to her husband of 68 years she is survived by her 2 sons Harlan H. Veal, Jr. and wife Phyllis, Press Veal, a son in law Wilson Routt, Jr., 7 grandchildren Harlan H. Veal III, Katherine Veal McCarty, husband Brian, Tami Anne Veal Johns, husband Corey, Kristian Marie Routt Pendergrass, husband Keith, Leah Marshelle Veal, P. J. Veal, and Mary Elizabeth Veal Wiggins, husband Mark, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Lou Veal Routt, 2 brothers Letcher and Jesse Rogers and a sister Mary Ann Rogers Ward.

Services will be 11:00 AM Sat., June 21, at Nicholasville Christian Church, with Rev. Jeff Mandrell and Rev. John Todd officiating,burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews Warren Featherston, Jr., Morris Ray Featherston, David Featherston, Robert Botkin, Fred Marrs, and Mark Rogers. Honorary bearers will be Anna Belle Bruner, Rita Hutchens, Ann Downing, Peggy Rowe, Carrie Jane Foster, Barbara Craycraft, Eugene and Mary Jean Blackford, and Judy Flordian. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, June 20, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home and from 10 AM until time of Service at the Church.
