Wini Yunker, 87, was born on Oak Street in Nicholasville, KY on July 10, 1934, being the sixth daughter of the late Winfield and Ruby Glass Mastin.  She was a former member of the Nicholasville Baptist Church but in recent years became an active member of the Nicholasville Christian Church.  In 1952 she was married to Murrell Dean White until 1955, and then in 1977 she was married to Sylvester J. Yunker until 1982. During that time they became the parents of son Joseph Franklin Glass Yunker on May 17, 1977.  Wini was a retired employee of Sargent & Greenleaf and at various times in her life was a member of  the Girl Scouts of America; Honorable Association of  Kentucky Colonels; Daughters of the American Revolution; National Geological Society; Bluegrass Crafts; Jessamine County Democrats; Business & Professional Women’s Association; Jessamine County Library Board; Jessamine County Food Pantry;  Jessamine County Democratic Election Commission since 2004; Ombudsman for Nursing Home Residents Association since 2008; and in 1968 she became the first Kentucky woman to rappel High Bridge.  Having an adventurous nature, she enjoyed spelunking  and also rapelled the Blue Building in downtown Lexington. Wini served in the US Peace Corps in Ukraine from 2000 to 2002.  Even though she enjoyed traveling the world over, Wini was very proud of Jessamine County. Her contagious smile and bubbly personality will be missed by many in her community.  In addition to her son Joe, she will be fondly remembered by her loving sisters Betty Lee Mastin and Juanita “Noddie” Burnside and the delight of her life— her grandson James Alexander Yunker, as well as several nieces and nephews.  Wini was preceded in death by sisters Elexene Cox, Sara Gill, and Anita Underwood.  A Memorial Service will be held March 19, 2022, at 5:30 PM at the Nicholasville Christian Church. Her family will greet friends beginning at 3:00 PM until time of Service.  Cremation was chosen by her family in accordance to her wishes.  Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home values the trust and loyalty given to us by Wini’s family to care for her arrangements.  This obituary was Wini’s life according to her handwritten memories.
